Domain Name Contracts and Terms

When you register a domain, you enter into a contact with the registrar. The contracts for our customers are below.

Not all registration contracts are equal. Our contracts offer more protection to the registrant, and do not give unnecessary power to the registrar

• For gTLD (.com, .net, and .org) domains:
  • gTLD Domain Name Registration Agreement
    • This is your agreement with the registrar.
  • Uniform Dispute Resolution Process
    • This governs disputes (e.g. over trademarks in domain names), and is required by the registry. This is the same for all .com/.net/.org/.info/.biz domains at all the registrars.

• For .biz domains:
  • .biz Domain Name Registration Agreement
    • This is your agreement with the registrar.
  • IP Claim Service Terms of Use
    • This is your agreement with the registrar for filing Itellectual Property claims.
  • Uniform Dispute Resolution Process
    • This governs disputes (e.g. over trademarks in domain names), and is required by the registry. This is the same for all .com/.net/.org/.info/.biz domains at all the registrars.

• For .ca domains:
  • .ca Domain Name Registration Agreement
    • This is your agreement with the registrar.

• For .info domains:
  • .info Domain Name Registration Agreement
    • This is your agreement with the registrar.

• For .tv domains:
  • .tv Domain Name Registration Agreement
    • This is your agreement with the registrar.

• For .uk domains:
  • .co.uk / .org.uk Domain Name Registration Agreement
    • This is your agreement with the registrar.
  • Nominet Terms and Conditions
    • These are terms from the registry. This part is the same for all .co.uk/.org.uk domains at all registrars.
• For .us domains:
  • .us Domain Name Registration Agreement
    • This is your agreement with the registrar.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: To register a .us domain, you must have "a substatial presence" in the USA, and your nameservers must be physically located in the USA. The details of these requirements can be found in the Nexus Requirements (PDF document).

• For .cn domains:
  • .cn Domain Name Registration Agreement
    • This is your agreement with the registrar.
